VIXX’s Ravi has found himself in hot waters over his recent song!
Ravi has recently came back with a new album and one of his songs titled “Red Velvet” quickly gained attention and subsequent backlash from fans who thought he crossed the line.
The lyrics of his song start off a bit ambiguous but quickly became problematic in fans eyes, the lyrics read,

I can’t hold it back anymore, stop testing me

CAUSE I KNOW YOU LOVE ME
Take a bigger biteDRIP it’s dangerous, push that hat down for me

You and I shouldn’t be in the same room by ourselves

Fans think the lyrics allude to sexual metaphors and reference Red Velvet songs, not only that but in the song, Ravi also includes the Korean words “sooyoung-haneun” and “yeri-hagien,” these words do translate to swimming and sharp but as many fans are already aware, in the context of the songs, fans believe Ravi was referring to Joy’s who is real name is Sooyoung and to Yeri. Ravi wrote the song.
Due to this, fans have been expressing their displeasure with the song and disappointment with Ravi. They’ve demanded a response and an apology.
On June 4, Ravi ended up issuing a detailed statement where he apologizes for the controversy. Ravi revealed he’s contacted Red Velvet through the staff with a phone call to personally relay his apologies, he said,
“I feel responsible and apologetic for even creating such a situation in the first place.”
He also explains that he didn’t realize that the content of the lyrics could cause discomfort to many people and used this song to express ‘sweet and bright energy,’ as a result, Ravi will remove the song from all music sites after discussing with the distribution company, he says it could take a while but he’ll make sure to get it done.
