Actor Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang aim to reclaim the Friday-Saturday drama throne with perfect visual chemistry.
On the afternoon of the 24th of November, the production presentation of the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Demon’ was held at the SBS. Actors Kim Yoo Jung, Song Kang, Lee Sang Yi, Jo Hye Joo, and director Kim Jang Han attended the event.
“My Demon” is a fantasy romantic comedy that revolves around the contract marriage between Do Do Hee (played by Kim Yoo Jung), an heiress who is like a devil, and Jeong Guwon (played by Song Kang), a demon who lost his abilities in an instant. It depicts a love story of salvation with a sweet but dangerous devil who gives limited happiness and leads to hell.
Competing with MBC’s “The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract” in the same time slot also revolves around a contract marriage. Director Kim Jang Han said, “Our work has a stronger fantasy element. Dramatic situations coming from a supernatural being rather than a human. Although they dislike each other due to the contract marriage, there will definitely be fun in the story of reluctantly continuing due to the circumstances. The actors are cute and lovely. Just their visual appearance is something to be proud of, wherever they are presented.”
Director Kim Jang Han, known for his scary taste, commented, “How much they fight in the process of coming together, how tender they become after the fight. It seems to be a process of how much they fight and how tender they become after the fight. There are many scenes where the two fight. Even in the midst of a fight, there are points where you can feel excitement.”
Kim Yoo Jung plays the role of Do Do Hee, a future group heiress and devil who loved the demon. She stated, “The focus is on the process of growing as they meet each other. Humans cannot mature completely. It’s a story of breaking one’s own world. I focused on the moments when it seems perfect but also appears lacking, creating a dualistic aspect.”
Song Kang, portraying a demon who has enjoyed immortality by making dangerous yet sweet deals with humans in exchange for their souls, took on a perfectly flawless narcissistic character. Talking about the synchronization rate, Song Kang humorously said, “65%,” adding, “Doesn’t everyone have self-love to some extent? Salvation, even when I act it, is the highest form of self-love. While acting, I talked about a completely perfect life, and there were times when I felt embarrassed and my face turned red without realizing it.”
Regarding his chemistry with “senior” Kim Yoo Jung, Song Kang said, “She is such a senior that she always led me well. I had a lot of concerns about the salvation character, but she came forward first and tried to approach and solve them. Thanks to her, I had a lot of discussions about acting, so the chemistry naturally followed.”
Lee Sang Yi played Joo Suk Hoon, the CEO of Future Investment, a subsidiary of the Future Group. He is the owner of a dandy visual and the only person that Do Do Hee, who possesses a free spirit, relies on. Kim Yoo Jung and Lee Sang Yi worked together continuously from the play ‘Shakespeare in Love’ to ‘My Demon.’ Kim Yoo Jung said, “I have been seeing him every day for a year. When we did the play, we played roles where we loved each other mutually, but now the roles are divided. I was worried that it might be awkward at first, but contrary to my worries, we filmed very comfortably.”
Jo Hye Joo plays Jin Ga Young, a traditional sword dancer who specializes in dance. Ga Young, who met salvation and considers herself saved by him, dislikes the sudden appearance of Do Do Hee between the two.
She also talked about the aspects she paid attention to in terms of appearance. Jo Hye Joo said, “I prepared Korean dance for 4-5 months.” Lee Sang Yi added, “To show a soft appearance like the sea, I tried perming my hair and making it fluffy.” Song Kang said, “In the early stages, there was a sharp and rough side, so I went on a very strict diet to look chic. Second, when using the demon’s ability, the color of the eyes changes. I paid a lot of attention to how to express those eyes. I tried to make them look as red as possible, almost bursting with blood.” Kim Yoo Jung added, “I paid a lot of attention to the costumes. I thought of expressing people through clothes. Externally, since the shooting period is long, I tried not to stress about the external aspects, thinking it would be stressful.”
‘My Demon’ premiered on the 24th at 10 p.m.
