MBC ‘s new drama “Kokdu: Season Of Deity” cast gathered to discuss their drama at the press conference.
Recently, MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Kokdu: Season Of Deity” press conference was held at MBC’s Golden Mouse Hall in Sangam-gu, Seoul. Kim Jung Hyun, Lim Soo Hyang, Dasom, Ahn Woo Yeon, Kim In Kwon, Cha Chung Hwa, and Baek Soo Chan attended the press conference to talk about the drama.
“Kokdu: Season Of Deity” is a fantasy romance drama in which an afterlife guide, Kokdu(Kim Jung Hyun), who comes down to the earth every 99 years to punish humans, meets the mysteriously skilled doctor, Han Gye Jeol (Lim Soo Hyang). It shows a special romance story between the afterlife and present life.
Kim Jung Hyun plays the role of Kkok Du, an ill-tempered guide of the underworld. Kkok Du is an underworld god who leads the deceased into the underworld and in this world, he has to enter inside the human body that looks exactly like him, find evil humans, and repeat murder as a punishment for angering the Creator of the world.
Lim Soo Hyang will play the role of Han Gye Jeol, portraying the life of a doctor who studied at the last ranked medical school in the country and has had no luck.
Regarding Kim Jung Hyun, who will return after the controversy, director Baek Soo Chan said, “He is an actor with many soft parts. I encouraged him a lot.”
When asked about Lim Soo Hyang, he laughed, referring to the casting process, saying, “I was surprised that she remained the same since the drama ‘New Tales Of The Gisaeng’.”
Regarding the actors’ chemistry, he looked satisfied, saying, “I thought they were qualified.”
Earlier, Kim Jung Hyun was embroiled in a controversy over his attitude at the press conference of the MBC drama “The Time,” which aired in 2018, and dropped out stating health problems. Since then, in 2021, he has been embroiled in controversy over his private life too.
Kim Jung Hyun addressing the controversy said,
Personally, there were many things that happened, and I think it was a time for me to look back and try to show a strong and good side of me to myself. I hope you like it, but if there are things that I’ve lacked, I think that I will try to show you a better side of myself than saying a hundred words of promises.”
Referring to the “The Time” press conference, which was embroiled in controversy over his bad attitude five years ago, he said,
I don’t remember much about five years ago, so I only feel grateful that I’m coming back for the press conference in MBC for the first time in five years.”
Dasom takes on the role of Tae Jung Won who is so talented that she has never missed the first rank for entering the Korean National University of Medicine till graduation and is an assistant professor of digestive medicine in the drama.
Dasom talks about her character and her passion for acting, saying,
Professionally, I am a doctor. To express the character of a proud lover, I played this character in a way to make it feel a little emotionally restrained and cold. I’m a person who likes bright, clear, and charming things and has a lot of energy, and I consulted a dermatologist from beginning to end to express this role.”
Regarding her collaboration with Lim Soo Hyang, she also shared,
She was a senior in high school and took good care of me on the filming site. I had a lot of fun chatting with her and she gave me a lot of advice on acting. When I had a lot on my mind, I called her and talked for about an hour or two. She is a good senior and a good older sister, I’m so happy to have been with her for this drama.”
Finally, Cha Chung Hwa encouraged viewers to watch the drama live, saying, “It is meaningful and worthwhile to spare your time to watch it.” Lim Soo Hyang said, “It snows in midsummer in our drama. We will approach you like the snow of midsummer, so please look forward to it.”
Kim Jung Hyun said, “Happy New Year, and I hope we can share the moments with you that we have been preparing for a lot since last year.”
“Kokdu: Season Of Deity” premiered at 9:50 p.m. on January 27.
