Heo Sung Tae explained why he chose this work, saying,

I’ve played the role of antagonist so many times in the past, and as soon as I read the script of this drama, I started thinking, ‘I want to write an extensive encyclopedia of a villain through this work.’
There are parts that I worked hard on and parts where I did not. I started working on it by taking it as a challenge.”

When asked what difference can the viewers expect in this role from the other antagonist roles he has played before, Heo Sung Tae explained,

I decided to start from the basics. I had to play this character for a long time chronologically, and each scene had a specific mood or reason behind it, so I thought a lot about what I would do if I was in this situation. I wanted to enhance every scene. I had no choice but to film the scenes because the time backdrop kept changing back and forth, so I focused on how to keep the integration and received a lot of help from the makeup team.”
