Actress Han Hyo Joo has expressed her position regarding allegations of tax evasion.
On the 13th of June, BH Entertainment stated, “Han Hyo Joo underwent a regular tax audit, not a special investigation, and there were no substantial issues, omissions, or suspicions of tax evasion. However, due to differences in the interpretation of the taxability during the investigation process, there were accounting errors resulting in the payment of additional taxes for certain expenses.”
They further stated, “Both our agency and Han Hyo Joo have been diligently paying taxes. In particular, Han Hyo Joo served as a promotional ambassador for the National Tax Service in 2011 and fulfilled her duty as a model taxpayer, receiving a presidential commendation for exemplary tax payment in 2014.”
BH Entertainment added, “There has never been any unfortunate incident related to taxes, and both Han Hyo Joo and our agency’s actors will continue to adhere to the principle of diligent tax payment.”
It was previously revealed that the actress had to pay additional taxes of 70 million won (~ $55,000) after being audited by the National Tax Service of Korea.
