Ahn Eun Jin has recently held an interview to talk about her successful recently concluded drama “My Dearest.”
On the 21st of November, at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Ahn Eun Jin was interviewed after the drama ended.
“My Dearest,” which ended on the 18th, is a historical drama set against the backdrop of the Qing invasion. It depicted the love and hope of lovers in the midst of the Qing invasion, telling the story of the people. In the drama, Ahn Eun Jin played the role of Yoo Gil Chae, who grew up beautifully in Nunggun-ri but, after experiencing the harsh realities of the war, becomes a sincere and strong woman as she sincerely yearns for a man.
“My Dearest” recorded the highest viewership rating of 12.9% in the final episode, leaving a good impression. Ahn Eun Jin said, ‘When I first received the script, I had a lot of readings with the director and writer. I wanted to clearly show the changes because I was looking forward to the growth of Gil Chae. I wanted to express it as it is, with both the naive and the loving sides. I acted thinking only about the present friend without thinking about the aftermath.'”
At the beginning of the drama’s airing, some criticized Ahn Eun Jin’s character, who is considered a beauty, and said she did not sync well with the setting. However, Ahn Eun Jin calmed the controversy with delicate emotional expression and acting skills.
Ahn Eun Jin said, ‘I hoped viewers would think of the early Gil Chae as a tomboy when they saw her. Since there is a clear process of maturation later, I wanted those early looks to be lovely and cute. Although it is a role that captivates everyone, I wanted to show a friend who tries hard. On the 19th, the Dearest team held a wrap-up party at a restaurant in Yeouido. Ahn Eun Jin said, ‘I ate pork belly in the first round and went to the second and third rounds. There were not many places open, so we finished there. There were about 30 to 40 people until the end. It ended around 3 a.m. No one shed tears.'”
“My Dearest” received attention for creating several couples on set as it was reported that over 10 couples came out after working on the set together. Regarding this, Ahn Eun Jin said, ‘We called them the lovers of ‘My dearest.’ In ‘Reply 1994,’ there were 11 couples, but we joked that if we did a little more, we could beat them. It was fun because there were couples during the wrap-up party.'”
As for the 2023 MBC Acting Awards to be held at the end of the year, Ahn Eun Jin said, ‘I am looking forward to it with an expectant heart. I am greedy for the Best Couple Award with Jang Hyun (Namgoong Min). We had good chemistry with the character. We seem to have done well together.'”
Ahn Eun Jin praised Namgoong Min as an actor who understands everything through acting. She said, “I received a lot of help while doing melo acting. I always listened carefully to sunbae’s words. Sunbae’s ideas are accurate. It’s too detailed. When I had personal worries, he answered insightfully. He also comforts well.”
