IU’s agency Edam Entertainment has recently posted a statement notifying fans of their legal action against one hater of the singer-actress who has been leaving horrible comments about her for a long time.
In their official statement, the agency says the perpetrator has been habitually posting insults, slander, and malicious comments since 2019 about IU on so many locations such as internet bulletin boards. They’ve collected the data, filed a complaint, and began an investigation through a law firm.
The court has judged that the perpetrator’s crimes were so horrible and repeated for a lengthy period of time. As a result, the perpetrator was given a suspended sentence of 8 months in prison, 2 years of probation, 180 hours of community service, and 40 hours of sexual violence treatment lectures on the charges of violating the act on the promotion of information and communication network among other charges.
This means that if the perpetrator repeats this offense at any time in the next two years, they will serve 8 months in prison.
The agency promises that if the offense is repeated by this individual, they will continue to seek legal action to give them an even harsher punishment.
They have also filed a legal complaint against another netizen who has been spreading false information about IU. They promised to do their best to protect the rights of their artists.
