On April 22, Former BTOB Member Ilhoon stood for his first hearing at the Seoul Central District Court, he is charged with purchasing and using the illegal drug marijuana.
The news had previously shocked fans, it was previously revealed that Ilhoon and 6 others were indicted for purchasing approximately 130 million KRW (~ $117,000 USD) worth of marijuana through an illegal distributor, receiving approximately 820 grams of the substance between July of 2016 through January of 2019. Seven other defendants who were indicted along with Ilhoon also admitted to the charges.
As a result of the controversy, Ilhoon issued an apology letter and left his group BTOB on December 31, 2020.
On his first hearing session, his legal representative stated that Ilhoon pleads guilty to all the charges against him and is deeply reflecting. Ilhoon additionally addressed the court with his own apology.
Ilhoon is currently serving in the military as a public service worker.
Ilhoon’s second hearing will take place on May 20 at 2 p.m. KST.
