After various delays due to the casting of its female lead, the upcoming drama “Island” has confirmed the finalized lineup of its lead.

“Island” is an upcoming drama based on a webtoon of the same name, it is a fantasy exorcism drama that takes place on Jeju Island. It will focus on the sorrowful and bizarre journey of the characters who are fated to fight evil that’s trying to destroy the world.

Kim Nam Gil is taking on the role of Pan, a tragic character that chooses to confront evil in preparations for the world’s end but can’t be together with humans. He’s born with the fate of having to protect the world, he struggles to find the purpose and value of what he has to protect.

Lee Da Hee is taking on the role of a third-generation chaebol and teacher Won Mi Ho. She is unaware of her fate as she begins a self-reflection period in Jeju Island.

ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo is taking on the role of the hip Catholic exorcist and priest named John, he’s a noble that calls for protecting lives and fighting evil. Despite that, he has a dark and horrible past.

Sung Joon will be taking on the role Goong Tan, a man who was raised to take care of evil alongside Pan. After a fateful event, he begins to oppose Pan, his character will add a twist and suspense to the story.

The drama will be directed by director Bae Jong of “Welcome to Dongmakgol” and “Fabricated City,” while the original webtoon author Yoon In Wan will be participating as a producer for the drama.

“Island” will begin filming in October and is aiming to premiere in the first half of 2022.

My personal thoughts- written by Jass K.

That’s a very interesting premise. I heard a lot of good things about the webtoon, fans were excited for the remake which has taken a while to confirm the casting due to Seo Ye Ji dropping out of negotiations.

I am surprised Sung Joon is taking on a secondary leading role but I have missed him, I can’t wait to see him in the drama. I am a bit worried about Eunwoo’s acting because he’ll be up against some of the biggest and most experienced in the industry. I hope he’s taking lessons because it won’t be easy to keep up.

The combination between Kim Nam Gil and Lee Da Hee will be interesting to see.
