This comes after fans began noticing that Kakao M catalog of music has disappeared from Spotify and was no longer available across the globe.

Later, Spotify issued a statement to confirm this and state that their existing licensing deal with KakaoM had expired, adding that at they were working on reaching an agreement over the past year and a half but have yet to reach one.

Kakao M came out with their own statement shortly after explaining,

“Kakao M has been in discussion with Spotify about supplying domestic music separately from existing overseas music distribution contracts.

We requested renewal of existing overseas contracts and we were notified of the expiration of our contract on the 28th of last month.

According to Spotify’s policy, overseas and domestic contracts negotiations should be carried out at the same time, thus, our overseas contracts have expired.

Discussions on the distribution of music is currently ongoing.”

Some of the artists affected by this include IU, Cherry Bullet, Cravity, GFriend, Mamamoo, CL, Nu’est, MONSTA X, SEVENTEEN and many many more.
