It has finally been confirmed, a YouTube spokesperson confirmed to billboard that BTS’s “IDOL” MV is now the most viewed music video in the first 24 hours, the biggest debut for a music video in the first 24 hours in YouTube’s history.

However, the numbers vary greatly from what we had expected. The MV froze at 56.2 million views 24 hours after its release.

According to the spokesperson,

“The video earned more than 45 million views in its first 24 hours.”

This is more than Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” music video which had achieved 43.2 million views in the first 24 hours.

BTS have broken so many records, “IDOL” music video has almost 10 million more views than their previous hit track “Fake Love” which was released back in May this year, and the music video reached 35.9 million views in the first 24 hours.

Why 45 million views?

The spokesperson explained that,

“To verify that views are real and accurate, YouTube may temporarily slow down, freeze, or adjust the view count, as well as discard low-quality playbacks.”

BTS is establishing its name as one of the biggest boy groups of our generation backed by their army fan base who help them reach new milestones.

The group had recently begun their world tour with two concerts in Seoul on August 25 and 26. Celebrities like Park Bo Gum, Park Seo Joon and Park Hyung Sik attended the concert to support their good friend V.

BTS will be busy this week promoting their album on Korean music shows before heading overseas to perform at various sold-out shows.

What do you think of this?
