The 2022 MAMA Awards Name Change
Prior to this, The MAMA Awards was called the MAMA as it stands for “Mnet Video Music Awards,” however, recently, it was announced they will be re-branding to this name instead.
Where will The 2022 MAMA Awards be held?
CJ ENM announced on August 24 that it will rebrand “MAMA” as “MAMA Awards” and hold it at Kyocera Dome Osaka, Japan, for two days from November 29 to 30. Its an indoor sports stadium that can accommodate up to 40,000 people.

This section is divided into categories depending on the award.
- Artist of the Year and Artist Category Awards: 40% judge panel evaluation, 30% song downloads/streaming (20% Korea + 10% global), 30% physical album sales
- Song of the Year and Genre Category Awards: 40% judge panel evaluation, 60% song downloads/streaming (40% Korea + 20% global)
- Album of the Year – 40% judge panel evaluation, 60% song downloads/streaming
- Worldwide Icon of the Year: 50% Mnet Plus votes, 30% Spotify votes, 10% Twitter votes, 10% music video score, (10% extra) live broadcast Twitter votes
- Worldwide Fans’ Choice Top 10: 50% Mnet Plus votes, 30% Spotify votes, 10% Twitter votes, 10% music video score

Who will host the award show this year?
For the red carpet event, Ahn Hyun Mo, Nam Yoon Soo, and Gabee will host day 1, while Ahn Hyun Mo, Nam Yoon Soo, and Aiki will host day 2.
Jeon Somi is hosting day 1 of the award show while Park Bo Gum is hosting day 2.

Stray Kids, TXT, Kep1er, and JO1, Hyolyn, FORESTELLA, BIBI, NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM, and the “Street Man Fighter” dance crews.
All 30 members of fourth-generation girl groups IVE, Kep1er, NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans will take the stage together on the first day.
Stray Kids will showcase an experimental stage different from all performances done so far. During this stage, Kyocera Dome Osaka is expected to transform into a bizarre experimental laboratory that creates abnormal groups, creating eight maniacs, and performing impressive stage that cannot be seen anywhere else.
TXT, who has shown an unrivaled presence with their trendy melody and solid storytelling, becomes Romeo in anger and loss after the first love is unaccomplished
KARA to hold special stage and perform their newest song for the first time since its release very recently.
This will mark the group’s first time taking to the stage since 7 years, thus, adding more meaning to this highly anticipated upcoming performance.
Hyolyn And BIBI will be taking the stage together for a special collaboration. The stage will be directed by Park Chan-wook from the movie “Decision to Break Up.”
Who is performing at the 2022 MAMA Awards day 2?
ITZY, ENHYPEN, IVE, TREASURE, Zico, Im Young Woong, (G)I-DLE, NiziU, INI, and NewJeans had been announced as the lineup.
BTS’s J-Hope will be performing his solo music for the first time on broadcast at the MAMA Awards. It was promised this stage will be like no other and will exceed fans’ expectations.
(G)I-DLE is set to perform with the rock band Jaurim.
Stray Kids’ 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han) will be collaborating with Tiger JK and the “Squid Game” music producer Jung Jae Il.
ITZY will present their new song stage of their new mini-album “CHESHIRE,” which is set to be released on November 30
