JTBC has another massive hit on its hands!

April 11 episode of “The World Of The Married” (episode 6) has broken the record for the second highest rated drama in JTBC history, which was previously held by “Itaewon Class.”

According to Nielsen Korea, “The World Of The Married” episode 6 scored an average of 18.8% nationwide and 21.4% in Seoul metropolitan area, this is a significant jump from its 5th episode which scored 14.7% nationwide the night before.

The record previously held by “Itaewon Class” was reached with its finale episode, but the impressive thing is that “The World Of The Married” is only 6 episodes in and its showing no signs of slowing down. Its quickly catching up to “SKY Castle” which is considered the highest rated drama in JTBC history with 23.78%.

The suspenseful plot and amazing actors’ performances are making this drama a massive hit. Fans can’t wait to see how the plot develops in the next weeks and many assume “The World Of The Married” will soon break the record held by “SKY Castle.” Each episode scored better rating than the previous one.

Congratulations to “The World Of The Married” cast and crew!

Have you seen “The World Of The Married” yet? What do you think of it?

My personal thoughts

The one thing similar with “The World Of The Married” and “Itaewon Class” is that they’re both based on finished material. “Itaewon Class” was written by the same webcomic writer who has wrote the entire plot, “The World Of The Married” is also based on a finished British series. Meaning, they both have leverage in making an air tight plot to glue people to their screens.

But they’re worlds apart, I classify “The World Of The Married” a masterpiece and we’re only 6 episodes in. If you follow my blog, you know I don’t use that word lightly. “Itaewon Class” was fun don’t get me wrong, but the writing went downhill for the second half and it was noticeable. I was disappointed by the second half and overall, I don’t think the drama deserved the hype but I totally understand why.

“The World Of The Married” is as shocking and dramatic as you’d expect a drama about a cheating husband to be. The interesting thing is the writer’s choice here. Instead of circulating around the same point before reaching the climax at episode 14, we’ve already reached whats supposed to be the climax of the story by episode 5. The choices and the plot pacing are just amazing. I am always on the edge of my seat anticipating the next episode.

If the writer keeps up with this pace, he will surely be able to make “The World Of The Married” the highest rated cable TV drama by episode 10 or 8 if he’s lucky. It’ll depend on how suspenseful episode 7 will be. I honestly watched it out of pure curiosity because of the quarantine and I didn’t expect to be wowed like this.

I like the actors behind this drama, but I don’t necessary watch their every project. I know they’re pros and they’re doing amazing. The story is what’s keeping people on the edge of their seat.

Personally speaking, I consider “The World Of The Married” to be easily the best kdrama of 2020- so far. The bar is now set high, I don’t know how other kdramas will catch up to this one in terms of quality.

  1. I didn’t plan on watching this drama but had to due to the massive hype and the ratings.I must say it is a really good drama. The cast is doing a fantastic job.I just hope they can keep up the momentum unlike Itaewon class that lost it in the second half
