ZEROBASEONE Share Thoughts On Their Debut, Their Goals, Being Labeled ‘5th Gen Idols’ And Comment On Competition With EXO
ZEROBASEONE Expresses Confident Aspirations After Debut in the press conference on their debut date.
On the 10th of July, the debut showcase of the group ZEROBASEONE was held at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, the member talked about their debut, performed and answered various questions by reporters.
ZEROBASEONE released their first mini-album ‘YOUTH IN THE SHADE’ through various music platforms today (10th) at 6 p.m., making their debut in the music industry.
‘YOUTH IN THE SHADE’ is an album that represents the appearance of youth in this era, portraying the beauty of brilliant youth and the underlying instability. ZEROBASEONE, who became one through the selection of the global fandom of Mnet’s ‘Boys Planet,’ is throwing a confident statement with their dazzling visuals and distinct personalities, heralding a “brilliant start.”
Regarding their debut, Kim Gyu Vin expressed, “I’m really nervous now that the debut I’ve always dreamed of is right in front of me. I will show you a more mature side as I have prepared with all my sincerity.” Kim Ji Woong stated, “It’s an honor to be able to greet you like this. Each day of preparation for our debut was so precious, and even though we are still a budding flower, I will do my best in every moment until we bloom into a magnificent flower.”
Furthermore, Seok Matthew said, “I’m quite nervous, but since we have prepared diligently for the stage, I would be very grateful if you could enjoy it with us.” Han Yu Jin pledged, “Finally, it feels like our debut is becoming a reality. I will show a cool image to our beloved fans.”
Center Zhang Hao expressed his thoughts, saying, “I’m nervous because we can show our debut song and title track, but it’s also an honor. I will complete our first activity healthily and happily. Please watch over the growth of ZERObaseONE.” Sung Han Bin said, “It has become a moment where the dreams of the nine members bloom, just like the title of the title track suggests. I am looking forward to our future activities.”
Kim Taerae said, “Thanks to the attention and love, I was able to debut as ZERObaseONE. I will become an artist who can express as much love as the interest received.” Ricky remarked, “I was happy to see my long-held dreams and efforts come true. I am grateful to those who have been waiting, and I will do my best to show the new Ricky and ZERObaseONE.” Park Gun Wook added, “I have achieved the debut I’ve always dreamed of. Since all nine members have put in effort just for today, I ask for your continued love and support.”
As ZERObaseONE debuts with the title of “5th Generation Idol,” Sung Han Bin mentioned, “(We have) heard grateful comments about us opening the door to the 5th generation, and it’s amazing every time we hear it. On one hand, we plan to grow based on the personalities and charms of our group, building on the activities shown by our seniors.”
Particularly, EXO, known as the “3rd Generation Idol,” also made their comeback on the same day with their 7th full-length album ‘EXIST,’ setting up a “direct confrontation” with the senior artists in the music industry. Kim Gyu Vin said, “It’s an honor to make a comeback on the same day as the senior artists I have respected since my trainee days. It would be a great honor to meet them on the same music broadcast.”
He continued, “I want to leave an impressive image of a rookie who can make them think, ‘There is such a newcomer.’ I will strive to leave a lasting impression as a rookie.” When asked, “What is the first thing you want to say when you meet them?” he replied with a laugh, “I want to ask for their autographs.”
They also shared their specific goals after debut. Kim Gyu Vin said, “Our immediate goal is to aim for first place on music shows. If we achieve that, we will repay the fans with an encore stage.” Ricky said, “I want to receive the Rookie Award. It’s an award that can only be received once, so it would be wonderful to share that glorious moment with the members of ZERObaseONE and the fans.”
