VERIVERY’s Minchan has found himself in hot waters for his comments.

Recently, VERIVERY’s Minchan along with his fellow members Hoyoung and Kangmin held a Naver’s V Live broadcast. One particular clip from the live show went viral, in the clip, Minchan talks about an idol who had transferred to their school back when he was in the third year of middle school.

Minchan said, My fantasy was crushed. Her looks weren’t very extraordinary either.”

Despite the members attempting to change the subject, the idol didn’t stop and continued to diss her looks, he said,

“Back then for me, if you were a celebrity, it meant that you were pretty, handsome… like someone from another planet. But somehow she looked very familiar.”

Minchan continued to drop hints about the female idol’s group name in question as well.

On January 8, Minchan issued an apology on VERIVERY’s official Twitter account.

His apology reads as follows,

“I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with my words and actions on V LIVE’s broadcast on the 6th.

In the future, so that the same thing does not happen again, I will be a person who pays attention to his words and actions and acts seriously in everything.

I will also contact her directly and apologize to her.”

The apology was met with mixed responses as kpop idols rarely ever publicly discuss other idols looks negatively or speak about them badly. Many netizens also brought up how she must be his senior in the industry and how rude it was of him to continue discussing her looks despite the members attempts to stop him.

After that, the members went on V Live again to celebrate their 3rd anniversary, Minchan apologized again and so did the members of his group.
