Underground Korean Rapper Ch1tkey Fakes His Own Death For Clout
There were rumors that rapper Ch1tkey fell from a rooftop and died, but these have been proven false.
On the afternoon of the 30th of July, a police official in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, told Star News, “There was no report of an incident or accident involving Jeong Jun-hyeok (Ch1tkey) near Sangbong-dong on the 29th.”
Previously, Ch1tkey was rumored to have died. According to his acquaintances, Ch1tkey slipped and fell while live-streaming on SNS from the rooftop of a building near Sangbong Station on Subway Line 7 in Seoul. He was reportedly taken to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest but was pronounced dead.
A woman, presumed to be Ch1tkey’s girlfriend, posted on her personal SNS, “I believe you’ll live freely in the world you dreamed of. You always said you’d go higher. You had so many dreams, ambitions, and curiosity. You’ve worked hard. Let’s meet in our dreams.” She also added, “Today is day 297. It would have been 300 days soon. Thank you for loving me every day. I will live remembering you.”
However, all of this turned out to be a hoax. A police official confirmed no incidents or accidents were reported regarding Ch1tkey. Later, Ch1tkey himself appeared on his Instagram, saying “Hello” and dancing on the rooftop where the rumors had originated.
Additionally, he posted on his Instagram Story, saying, “Sorry to the rappers on Show Me the Money and broadcast rappers. I’ll take it from here” and “I’m Illuminati,” displaying a confident attitude.
Given the woman’s post and the detailed death scenario, the revelation of the hoax drew strong reactions from netizens. Some criticized his actions, saying, “Is this the level of rappers these days? Why talk like this?” “This is why the media disparages rapper culture,” “Is this supposed to be funny?” “It’s absurd,” and “Why is he so immature?”
