JTBC’s newest drama “The One And Only” has premiered this week and the ratings are already going down!

“The One And Only” initially made a promising start despite its late 11 p.m. time slot. According to Nielsen Korea, “The One And Only” episode 1 started with an average nationwide rating of 2.442%, however, its 2nd episode scored lower ratings sinking into the 1% range with 1.365%.

“The One And Only” is led by Ahn Eun Jin, Red Velvet’s Joy, Kim Kyung Nam and Kang Ye Won. It tells the story of three terminally ill women who meet at a hospice and decide that before they die, they want to take down one bad guy, as they attempt to do this, they end up meeting the most valuable person of their lives.

But why has “The One And Only” already seen a considerable drop?

One possible reason could be the late time slot, another one is the fact that this specific time slot has been previously occupied by “Idol: the Coup” which struggled with ratings in the 0% range.

Fans hope the drama picks up next week.

Have you seen the premiere of “The One And Only”?

  1. Yes, I have seen the first two episodes and I liked it. Ahn Eun Jin is one of the best Korean actresses, you can be sure that any drama she is playing in a main lead will be at least watchable – she is not acting, she is living on screen. The lineap is very good – they have all good actors and actresses. The male lead is Kim Kyung Nam and we know from the King: Eternal Monarch that he can play somebody in love and be convincing. This drama is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. Personally, I hope that it will stay realistic, I wouldn’t want them to become a “Parasite”-like story with exaggerated bloodshed, mystery or ghosts. This should be a realistic story, with the realistic ending, this way it would be really very powerful. I expect many filler episodes though, because how long you can stretch out an investigation? But look forward to the next episode, where Joy (who is acting great here by the way) hilariously said to Ahn Eun Jin character :”are you thinking about falling in love in this situation”?, meaning “you are dying and still thinking about love”? Apparently yes, she does.
