Seungri’s final sentence has been finally confirmed.

On May 26, The Supreme Court of Korea (Chief Justice Noh Tae Ak) upheld the previous sentence handed to him by court of one year and six months.

Previously, on August 12 of 2021, the military court sentenced Seungri to three years in prison, fined him 1,156,900,000 won (about $994,544). He was fined on all nine charges brought against him. He denied all nine but one charge, the violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act.

In the appeal trial, Seungri admitted to all the charges against him and the justice department sentenced him to one year and six months in prison, which is a reduced sentence. He was determined guilty on all nine charges which are: the violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes, violation of the Food Sanitation Act, embezzlement, violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, habitual gambling, violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, prostitution mediation, purchase of prostitution services, and special violence instigation.

Seungri was supposed to be discharged in September of 2021, however, his discharge was put on hold as he underwent trial. He was being held in the military prison during that process.

Now, Seungri will be transferred to a civilian prison to spend the remaining of his sentence [9 months]. Seungri will leave prison in February of 2023.
