Stray Kids Break A Kpop Records With Number Of Pre-Orders Of Upcoming Album “★★★★★ (5-STAR) Five Star”
Group Stray Kids has made a new history in K-pop as their 3rd full-length album surpassed 4.93 million pre-orders!
According to their agency JYP Entertainment on the 30th of May, Stray Kids’ 3rd full-length album, “★★★★★ (5-STAR) Five Star,” achieved pre-order sales of 4.93 million copies on that day. This is the highest pre-order sales in the history of K-pop.
Stock pre-orders is the number of stock albums that are produced prior to an album’s release. The number is an estimate to calculate the demand for the album, it uses various factors including how many albums were pre-ordered by fans. The album orders come from regions all over the world.
Stray Kids reached the status of “million-selling artist” with their 2nd full-length album, “NOEASY,” released in August 2021, which sold a total of approximately 1.675 million copies (based on Circle Chart). They continued their success with their next mini-album “ODDINARY,” released in March 2022, which recorded sales of approximately 1.856 million copies, and their album “MAXIDENT,” released in October of the same year, which showed a remarkable increase in sales with approximately 3.4217 million copies.
This new album is highly anticipated as it is expected to continue Stray Kids’ global popularity rise. Stray Kids has already proven their popularity with achievements such as two consecutive No. 1 rankings on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming the second K-pop boy group to hold a sold-out North American stadium concert, and their music video surpassing 400 million views, a first for a 4th generation K-pop boy group.
Stray Kids’ 3rd full-length album is set to be released on June 2nd at 1 PM.
