Stray Kids Bangchan has issued an apology addressing his recent comments.

Recently, Stray Kids Bangchan was in the spotlight after he revealed that some junior artists on a music show he’s been to recently did not greet them properly when they initiated a greeting. He talked about how the younger artists these days are not greeting their seniors properly. Greetings and bowing are considered essential in Korean culture and not bowing correctly to your senior can be seen as a sign of disrespect.

After his comments, some netizens stood by his side and commended him for opening up about it, while others didn’t like his comments so much because it seemed that some began to try and find the artist’s identity and attack other kpop groups at random. Soon, some began attacking a certain group for his comments.

In his broadcast, Bangchan did not name any artist in particular but was addressing the situation in general, regardless, as one group received intense backlash following his broadcast, he took to Instagram to apologize.

He wrote,

Hello, this is Bang Chan from Stray Kids.
I apologize for the offense caused by the comments I made during a recent live broadcast.
I thought about the impact my words and behavior can have on others, and have deeply reflected on myself.
I would like to mention that it was not my intention to specify a certain artist, and that my comments had nothing to do with the artist being mentioned currently.
I would like to express my deepest apologies to the artist who has been hurt by my careless words. I sincerely apologize.
I will be more cautious of what I say in order to ensure this does not happen again.
Once again, I sincerely apologize.
