Starship Entertainment Demands Strong Legal Punishment Against Cyber Bully YouTube Channels Like Sojang That Make Severe Malicious Rumors

Starship Entertainment has demanded strict punishment for some YouTube channels that continuously spread malicious rumors about its artists.

Starship Entertainment, the agency of Monsta X, IVE, and others, announced in an official statement on September 14th through their official channel that they are calling for strict legal action against the cyber channel Sojang that produces and distributes fake news using entertainment industry issues as a pretext.

Starship Entertainment stated, “Since November 2022, we have been pursuing civil and criminal lawsuits against Sojang which has continuously harassed our artists,” and added, “Although Sojang has deleted their account after their identity was revealed, they continue to argue that they are not guilty of defamation in the lawsuit, showing no intention to improve. Therefore, it is urgent to impose severe punishment.”

Furthermore, they said, “Despite being sued, there are still numerous channels like ‘ Luminark on YouTube that continue to spread fake news about the entertainment industry and engage in sexual harassment and defamation. We believe that raising awareness of cyber terrorism caused by fake news through strict punishment for Sojang can prevent the exploitation of others’ suffering for profit in online and SNS platforms.”

Recently, various music-related organizations such as the Korean Management Association, the Korean Entertainment Production Association, the Korean Music Label Industry Association, and the Korean Music Content Association have also demanded strict punishment for malicious content creators such as Sojang.
