Rapper bassagong, who was accused of illegally filming and distributing photos in group chat rooms, has been sentenced to prison.
the 6th criminal division of the seoul western district court sentenced bassagong to one year in prison and arrested him in court on charges of violating the special act on the punishment of sexual violence crimes (filming and retaliation using cameras, etc.).
in addition, the court ordered him to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and to restrict his employment at child and youth institutions and welfare facilities for the disabled for three years.
the court said, “the act of illegal filming and distributing illegal filming causes irreparable damage to personality and honor in itself, and causes constant psychological pain to the victim as there is a possibility that films will be distributed. the victim is still pleading for severe punishment, saying they have never received a proper apology and lives in pain day by day,” the court ruled.
bassagong is accused of illegally filming victim b, who was an acquaintance in 2018, and distributing it to a messenger group chat room.
previously, in the final trial, the prosecution requested a prison term of 1 year and 6 months for bassagong. in the final argument, bassagong admitted all the charges and showed remorse by saying, “i will not commit the same mistake again.”
however, victim b said, “i only wanted sincere reflection and restoration of damage, but there was no apology.” she appealed for strong punishment, saying, “you must never give sex offenders a chance.”
