Seungri Denies He’s Attending A ‘Burning Sun’ Event In Indonesia + Apologizes For Using G-Dragon’s Name After Serving Prison Sentence
Seungri has denied reports that he will attend an event using the name “Burning Sun.”
In an interview with Ilgan Sports on the 11th of August, Seungri stated, “It is not true,” and added, “I don’t even know where the region in Indonesia mentioned in the article is, and the club name is using ‘Burning Sun.’ It says I’m going on August 31, but I have no such plans.”
Earlier, on the 9th (local time), Allkpop reported that the overseas event management company TSV Management would hold an event called “Burning Sun Surabaya” in Indonesia on the 31st and that Seungri was expected to attend as a special guest.
Seungri commented, “People will know the truth on the actual day (when I do not attend). But if I don’t correct this, people might just believe it. The report about the club is entirely untrue,” indicating his intention to take strong action through a local law firm for defamation and infringement of portrait rights.
He also clarified the situation when he was spotted at a party in Cambodia last January. Seungri explained, “I visited because an acquaintance opened a beer pub, and I was there for personal reasons, not because someone paid me to attend an event. The rumors that I invested locally are groundless; I simply said it looked great.”
Regarding his previous statement about “bringing G-Dragon,” he admitted, “I got caught up in the atmosphere and unintentionally mentioned a former member’s name, but it was an inappropriate action, and it won’t happen again.”
Seungri also denied reports from May that he was preparing to open a club in Hong Kong, saying, “That is entirely untrue. I’ve never even thought about it. I never planned or discussed it with anyone. Considering the notoriety of the incident, I think someone overseas might be trying to capitalize on that.”
