Rosé Boldly Opens Up About Toxic Past Relationships, Falling In Love, And Negative Online Comments
BLACKPINK’s Rosé recently opened up about her challenging experiences in her twenties, including relationships, rumors, and negative online comments.
In an interview with Paper magazine published on November 4, she reflected on her first full-length album Rosie, set for release on December 6. Rosé shared that the album, produced over the past year in Los Angeles with various artists, explores the theme of misguided love.
Reflecting on past relationships, she expressed gratitude for the experiences, hoping that listeners would understand her music as a reflection of common, relatable struggles. Her lyrics, she said, speak to those who may have been in difficult relationships, whether romantic or otherwise. Rosé said, “I think I’m grateful enough to have gone through a few relationships, you know, like a normal girl in her 20s. I do want people to understand that I’m not much different from your average girlfriend, or 23-year-old girl. I’m probably very relatable if you listen to my songs, and if anyone’s been in that kind of a relationship. It doesn’t even have to be about a boyfriend, just any type of toxic relationship.”
Rosé admitted to occasionally reading malicious online comments, a habit she acknowledged as unhealthy, she said, “I realized how vulnerable and addicted I was to this [online] world and that craving for feeling like I wanted to be loved and understood. I hated that about myself.”
Meanwhile, her pre-release single “APT.” recently debuted at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, drawing significant global attention.
Rosé’s honest comments about past relationships have gained a lot of attention among fans who are praising her for being open and honest despite her idol status.
