Rapper Dok2 Faces Controversy for Unpaid Health Insurance Premiums
Following tax evasion, rapper Dok2 is now facing controversy for unpaid health insurance premiums.
According to the National Health Insurance Corporation on the 27th of December, Dok2’s name has been listed as one of the high amount and habitual defaulters of health insurance premiums. It has been revealed that Dok2 has been defaulting on health insurance premiums since April 2018, with a total amount of 220 million won [$169,957].
However, health insurance premiums are not the only debts Dok2 has failed to pay. According to the National Tax Service on the 14th, Dok2’s name has also been listed as one of the high amount and habitual defaulters of taxes.
High amount and habitual defaulters refer to those who have failed to pay more than 200 million won in taxes for a year after the date of default. Dok2 has defaulted on taxes exceeding 300 million won.
Dok2 has been in various controversies across the years, he was sued for non-payment of jewelry fees by an overseas jewelry company and was forced to pay approximately 40 million won in unpaid jewelry fees. Dok2, who lived in a penthouse and boasted about his wealth of billions of won, suddenly fell from grace.
Then in January, Dok2 faced controversy again for defaulting on 330 million won in taxes and 10 million won in health insurance premiums. Dok2 further fueled public anger by releasing a song titled “Default” in response to the controversy surrounding his tax and health insurance premium defaults.
