Kpop group ONF has surprised fans with their announcement that they published recently.

On November 2, ONF’s leaders Hyojin and J-Us shared handwritten letters to the group’s official fancafe. The letters have gained attention not only from their fandom but also other kpop groups fans who applaud the group’s decision to stick together and finish military service all at once.

ONF has a total of six members, one of which is Japanese, aside from member U, the rest of the ONF members Wyatt, MK, J-US, E-Tion and Hyojin must serve in the military.

Via their official letters, the leaders explain that in order to minimize the period of hiatus, the group has decided to enlist all at once, at the end of this year.

The leaders state that there is about a month left until their enlistment. They asked for fans understanding and explained that they want to serve and return as quickly as possible in order to meet fans soon.

ONF debuted on August 3, 2017, and most of the members set to enlist are born in either 1994 or 1995 which means there is still plenty of time left until they must fulfill their duties but they have decided to serve at once in order to minimize the hiatus period.

Military enlistment is something kpop idols and fans dread, some groups’ hiatus usually lasts from 3 to 6 years on average depending on the age and size of the group.

ONF’s decision has made headlines as its almost unheard of for a boy group to decide to enlist all at once.
