NewJeans Reportedly Sent ADOR A Letter Of Certification Warning Of Intent To Terminate Contract If Certain Conditions Are Not Met
The group NewJeans has sent a letter of certification to their agency ADOR, stating that they will terminate their exclusive contract if demands, including the return of former CEO Min Hee Jin, are not met.
According to the music industry on the 13th of November, NewJeans sent a certified letter to ADOR under the real names of the five members, Kim Min Ji, Hanni Pham, Marsh Danielle, Kang Hye Rin, and Lee Hye In, saying, ‘Rectify all major contract violations we are presenting within 14 days from the day this letter is received.’
The document, disclosed by Yonhap News, states, ‘Take all necessary measures as the management company of NewJeans, regarding the decision by HYBE to “ditch New (referring to NewJeans) and create a new plan.”’ This points out content included in HYBE’s internal document titled “Music Industry Report.”
Additionally, NewJeans demanded the following from ADOR: ▲an official apology from the manager who told Hanni to “ignore it” ▲deletion of videos and photos that were used and exposed without consent ▲assessment of the damages NewJeans suffered due to “album manipulation” and provision of a solution ▲resolution of issues related to disputes with director Shin Woo Seok of Dolphin Productions and the resulting loss of existing work materials ▲and the preservation of NewJeans’ unique identity and body of work.
In particular, they urged for the return of former CEO Min Hee Jin as their final demand. They emphasized, ‘Please allow former CEO Min Hee Jin to take charge of ADOR’s management and the production of NewJeans, as before. Bring ADOR back to the time when NewJeans signed an exclusive contract and worked happily and joyfully until March 2024. We miss NewJeans, who were filled with dreams of showing music, stages, and new creative activities with former CEO Min Hee Jin.’
The five members personally signed the final page of this certified letter, adding, ‘If ADOR does not accept our demands, we plan to terminate our exclusive contract. Additionally, there are groundless rumors circulating involving the families and relatives of NewJeans members, but NewJeans has no connection to these rumors.’
With NewJeans sending this certified letter to ADOR, the “ADOR incident,” which began last April with an audit involving former CEO Min Hee Jin, now appears likely to escalate into a dispute over NewJeans’ exclusive contract.
Meanwhile, ADOR stated, ‘We have not yet received the contents certification. As we have not yet received it, we have no response to give at this time.’
