NewJeans sets a new sales record for the first day of the recently released K-pop group’s debut album.
According to Hanteo Charts on August 9, 262,815 copies of New Jeans’ debut album “New Jeans” were sold on the 8th alone. This is the highest sales record for the first-day release among the idol group’s debut albums released since September 2019. In addition, NewJeans set a new sales record on the first day of the release of all-girl group debut albums, and NewJeans is the first girl group with sales exceeding 200,000 copies on the first day of the debut album release. With such overwhelming album sales, NewJeans topped the daily chart of Hanteo’s albums on August 8.
NewJeans’ presence also stands out on the music charts. “Attention” and “Hype Boy” remained at No. 1 and No. 2 on the Korean “Daily Top Song” chart of Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, for seven consecutive days. “Attention” entered the Melon Daily Chart at No. 9 on August 5, setting a new record of entering the “Top 10” in the shortest time among girl group’s debut songs released over the past three years, and ranked in the top 5 on the Melon Daily Chart on the August 7.
NewJeans released its debut album “New Jeans” on August 1 and released the physical album on August 8.
