NewJeans Appointed As The Global Ambassador Of The 2023 Seoul Fashion Week

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on February 22nd that it will hold the ‘2023 F/W Seoul Fashion Week’, which will showcase fashion trends for this fall and winter, at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) from March 15th to 19th. This year, the group NewJeans will be active as a global public relations ambassador.

This year’s F/W Seoul Fashion Week consists of a fashion show of 30 designer brands, a trade show for order fairs in which overseas buyers participate, and a citizen participation program. NewJeans is a group that entered the US Billboard chart Hot 100 within 6 months of their debut and has two million-seller albums.

For the first time in 23 years since the start of Seoul Fashion Week, the fashion show stage has been changed from the existing straight to circular. It is a dimension to provide a more lively experience to the audience. The stadium runway in Art Hall 1 has a radial structure, and a large LED wall is installed on the runway in Art Hall 2.

The entire order of the Seoul Collection fashion show is conducted by drawing a lottery directly from the designer. In this fashion show, five brands that domestic and foreign buyers want to see again will be provided with special benefits during the next season’s Fashion Week.

During the fashion week, the order fair trade show with the participation of 130 people from 27 countries around the world will be held at the DDP. A total of 70 brands, including those participating in Seoul Collection and Generation Next, will participate in the trade show.

Tranoi, the official contract fair for Paris Fashion Week, will also have a ‘Seoul Fashion Week Exclusive Pavilion’ where 6 women’s wear designers representing Seoul will participate. The Paris Expo will be held at the Palais Bronnai in Paris for four days from the 2nd to the 5th of next month.

A citizen participation program is also underway. At DDP Oullim Plaza, a live studio with fashion influencers will be held, and various experience booths such as artificial intelligence voice recognition photo zones will be created.

This Seoul Fashion Week will be held as a 100% on-site fashion show. It will also be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel. A detailed schedule can be found on the official website of Seoul Fashion Week, Kakao Channel, and Instagram. Citizens who wish to attend the fashion show can apply on the Seoul Fashion Week website from  February 23rd to March 6th.

The video of NewJeans, the public relations ambassador for Seoul Fashion Week, will be released on the official YouTube channel of Seoul Fashion Week on February 25th. In this video, NewJeans will promote the designer’s work to the world by mixing and matching outfits from Seoul Fashion Week participating brands Ulkin, B.L. Albler, and Azobaiazo.

Kim Tae Gyun, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Economic Policy Office, said, “As the competitiveness and business environment of small and medium-sized fashion manufacturers continue to weaken as they pass through the corona tunnel, the polarization of the fashion industry is deepening. We will make it a center for enhancing the competitiveness of K- fashion.”
