NewJeans’ debut album “New Jeans” has surpassed 1 million cumulative sales. It is the second million seller in the group’s career after the single “OMG.”

According to their agency ADOR on February 20, a total of 1,036,811 copies of NewJeans’ debut album “New Jeans’ released in August last year have been sold until February 11 based on the Circle Chart tally.

NewJeans’ “New Jeans” is the first debut album of an artist to have more than 1 million sales among debut album releases since 2011 when Circle Chart began accurate data aggregation.

Album sales are highly correlated with fandom size. It is rare for a rookie to sell more than 1 million albums unless it is a group that has many members who have secured a specific fandom through audition programs.

ADOR said, “NewJeans achieved the feat of ‘Million Seller’ in a way differentiated from existing ways, such as releasing music videos without much pre-release content. It gained popularity at the syndrome level and became an artist with two ‘Million Seller’ records in about half a year.

NewJeans’ “New Jeans” set a new record for the first time for a girl group debut album, selling more than 300,000 albums in a week after its release. Since its release in early January this year, the single “OMG” has sold 700,000 copies in the first three weeks and surpassed 1 million copies in sales.

Along with the high sales volume of the album, the music record is still gaining popularity. The top three on the weekly charts of Melon, Genie, and Bugs, major music sites in Korea, are all New Jeans’ songs “Ditto,” “OMG,” and “Hype Boy.” The chart line-up has continued for four weeks.

As new songs and debut songs simultaneously occupied the top of the charts, NewJeans also topped the music chart rankings and the share category. In this year’s Top 400 Circle Index market share survey, NewJeans ranked first with a combined market share of 8.7% with a total of six songs in the top 400.

They are also doing well on major global charts. “Ditto” and “OMG” charted in for five consecutive weeks on the U.S. Billboard main single chart “Hot 100.” “OMG” ranked 74th on the latest chart (February 18), the highest rank in NewJeans career.

“OMG” also raised its weekly ranking on Spotify’s global “Weekly Top Songs” chart, the world’s largest music streaming company, and ranked 14th on the latest chart (February 16). “Ditto,” which ranked 25th on the same chart, entered the chart for 9 consecutive weeks.
