Yup, you read that title right! A Netizen has petitioned to the blue house to have Jungkook Cultural Merit Medal revoked because of the Itaewon outing controversy and a couple of thousands have actually signed it.

On May 18, Dispatch reported that BTS’s Jungkook, Seventeen’s Mingyu, NCT’s Jaehyun, and ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo visited Itaewon clubs on April 25.

It was the same day the government issued an order for people to practice social distancing, Jungkook was said to have tested negative for COVID-19 and was self-isolating.

Big Hit has released an official statement on the matter confirming that he indeed visited Itaewon with his friends on April 25; they also said that his test results came out negative and that he’s deeply regretting his actions.

Apparently, one netizen was still dissatisfied with the statement because they posted a petition on the Blue House petition website asking the government to revoke the cultural Merit medal he was awarded as a BTS member.

The award is only given to the most prestige individuals who successfully raise awareness for the Korean culture. BTS were awarded that in 2018.

The petition is titled “Please withdraw BTS Jungkook’s Order Of Cultural Merit.” The petitioner claims that Jungkook’s actions ignore the “efforts of the people and medical staff who have worked to overcome Corona so far,” and that it doesn’t match the purpose of the medal given to those who contributed and raised awareness about the country.

In the first hours, the petition attracted a couple of thousands of signatures, fans are not happy about the news and labeled the netizens who posted this petition a ‘hater, and an ‘anti.’

Many believe this is an extreme stretch and that Jungkook shouldn’t be criticized this much for the Itaewon outing controversy.

In related news, Cha Eun Woo has posted a handwritten apology letter following Jaehyun who has also done the same.

  1. Can people stop making a big fuss out of a small issue
He should’ve been careful, wasn’t apologized. The end.
At the end of the day he is responsible for his actions and he is the only one who will bear the repercussions. This is no where concerned to anyone’s lives. So people should just stop. And pay more attention to their own life. And just because he met a few of his friends and whatever happened doesn’t mean you will forget everything he did for his fans his nation. Respect him and his privacy.

  2. I totally agree with you. This is a small issue why making them headline and saying all kindna thing. Their all grown up men, they make a little mistake by going to the club to hang out. Is not like just them, alot of people were there. I feel that as long as their all fine, that’s all that matters. They don’t need to apologized to anyone. Nothing happen to them, everyone make mistake somehow. People are just over react to this. Love them support them and making sure that their fine, that’s all. Please don’t make them feel bad just move one and leave them alone. RESPECT people..I will always support JK no matter what happen. He deserve to be happy not to be hate like this.

  3. can u all stop this please he already tested negative and he apologized about this even BIGHIT also did.
So u all fu8king drag him in the problem that’s wrong. He did a mistake and everyone makes a mistake.
Just stop this stop bullying him and let him live a happy live.

  4. such a shame that a person who got a cultural merit medal goes AWOK while social distancing and quarantine time is ordered… serve him right. why do go visiting or hanging out with friends while government ordered not to.. is it hard to follow a national order?? a bad image to all the fans, cant even stand his award… not so deserving
