Singer Nam Tae Hyun’s agency has explained the controversy over his drunk driving.
On March 10, Nam Tae Hyun’s agency, Noname Music released a statement clearing the misinformation going around on Nam Tae Hyun’s drunk driving.
Noname Music corrected the misinformation circulating around through reports saying he drove for tens of meters while drunk by officially stating that Nam Tae Hyun damaged the side mirror of a taxi after opening the door of his vehicle when he was drunk at 3:30 a.m. on March 8 after a meeting up with his acquaintances in Gangnam, Seoul and only drove for about 5 meters after that.
The following is the full statement of Nam Tae Hyun’s agency on the drunk driving controversy:
“Hello, We’re Nam Tae Hyun’s agency, Noname Music.
First of all, we apologize for the delay in expressing our official position to confirm the facts. We sincerely apologize for causing concern due to the fault of the artist Nam Tae Hyun.
Nam Tae Hyun finished a meeting with his acquaintances in Gangnam at around 3:30 a.m. on March 8, 2023, and first moved about 5m to park his vehicle that was blocking his acquaintances’ vehicles, and then tried to wait for the driver he has called.
In the process, while Nam Tae Hyun was opening the door of a parked vehicle, an accident occurred in which Nam Tae Hyun’s vehicle and a side mirror of a passing taxi collided. Nam Tae Hyun took a look at the damages to the taxi driver’s vehicle immediately after the collision and promised to sufficiently compensate for the damage.
However, unlike some media reports, Nam Tae Hyun did not drive many meters after the collision with a taxi, but moved about 5 meters forward and parked again. There is no excuse for making a momentary rash judgment despite being drunk.
Nam Tae Hyun deeply reflects on his mistake, and he will faithfully conduct a police investigation and be punished for his mistake. We deeply apologize to everyone. We also feel responsible for such an incident.
