LOONA‘s Olivia Hye leaves “GIRL’S RE:VERSE” due to health reasons.

Kakao Entertainment’s “GIRL’S RE:VERSE” announced on the official SNS on January 21st, “Chonky Cat stopped challenging at W for health reasons and returned to her cat star hometown.”

They continued, “We would like to express our gratitude to the Chonky Cat who has done her best so far. Please give lots of support for Chonky Cat’s future.”

“GIRL’S RE:VERSE” is Korea’s first virtual idol debut survival program. 30 former and current K-pop girl group members who have hidden their identities will compete to debut as idols in the virtual world of W.

Olivia Hye, who plays her virtual character Chonky Cat, drew attention for her unique tone. During the preliminaries, she ranked high and was likely to be in the final group for her debut, but she has to make her sudden departure.

Some speculate that Olivia Hye’s departure from “GIRL’S RE:VERSE” may be the aftermath of her losing application for an injunction to suspend the validity of her exclusive contract filed against Blockberry Creative, her agency.

Previously, 9 members, excluding LOONA ViVi and Hyunjin, filed an application for a provisional injunction to suspend the validity of the exclusive contract against the agency.

The court ruled in favor of Heejin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry; and Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye lost. Since then, Yves, Yeojin, and Haseul have expressed their feelings through SNS.
