Leeteuk‘s remarks during Super Junior‘s Ryeowook and Tahiti’s Ari wedding ceremony have gained attention.

Ryeowook and Ari, who had been publicly dating since September 2020, held a private wedding ceremony in Seoul on the 26th. In particular, the entire ensemble of former Super Junior members also attended, it marked the 1st time in a long time since the 15 Super Junior members were all spotted in the same frame.

Despite the rainy Sunday, Ryeowook and Ari enjoyed a happy party, even preparing a second part of the event. However, it was Leeteuk, who took on the role of MC, who surprised the audience by introducing Kangin, who tried to lighten the mood, with the statement, “You are now seeing Kangin, who has been on a self-reflection period longer than his activities.”

Furthermore, he jokingly half-sincerely revealed his thoughts, saying, “Please forgive Kangin. He has been reflecting for 15 years. He had a self-reflection period of 15 years during his 5-year period of activities. Since today is a happy and good day, I hope you can hug him, love him, and help him so that Kangin can live well.”

Kangin, who debuted as a member of the group Super Junior in 2005, received a lot of love from fans during their group activities. However, he faced controversies such as drunk driving and assault. In 2019, he voluntarily left Super Junior for the sake of the members and fans due to his past controversies.

At the time, he stated, “I always felt sorry for the members. I always thought that it was right to make a decision as soon as possible, but I couldn’t easily gather enough courage because I was worried about the supporters who continue to cheer me on, as well as the company staff members. I also thought that I shouldn’t make decisions alone. However, after watching the members go through things that they shouldn’t have experienced because of my problems, I decided that I couldn’t postpone it any longer.”

Afterwards, Kangin occasionally updated fans about his current situation through his YouTube channel instead of appearing on broadcasts. In June of last year, he expressed his thoughts on a potential comeback, saying, “It doesn’t seem like a decision I can make. Even I can’t forgive myself. I was reckless and repeated the same mistakes. I knew it was wrong back then and I still know it now.”

Leeteuk took the opportunity to ask for forgiveness for Kangin in a private setting, although it was a comment made to make the guests laugh rather than an official statement.
