“Its So Unfair,” Lee Hongki Seemingly Addresses Choi Minhwan’s Allegations In 1st Performance Since His Hiatus
FT Island’s Lee Hongki indirectly expressed his feelings about Choi Minhwan, who is facing prostitution allegations.
On November 2, FT Island performed at the “Grand Mint Festival 2024” in Seoul’s Olympic Park. This marked the band’s first stage appearance as a duo after Minhwan’s hiatus. Though they had performed without him before, this was their first official show since Minhwan’s exit.
Toward the end of the performance, Hongki commented, “Honestly, I was feeling really down, like the world was piling on me, but I’m thankful. I’ll keep doing music until the end. Thank you,” indirectly hinting at his stance on Minhwan’s controversy.
The controversy erupted after Choi’s ex-wife Yulhee publicly exposed the allegations through her YouTube channel on the 24th of October. She shared a recorded conversation showing Choi’s involvement in such establishments.
In response, FNC Entertainment issued a statement on the 25th to announce his hiatus for the time being, he also stepped down from The Return of Superman. As a result, police are also set to investigate the idol.
Hongki received backlash several times as he seemingly showed support for Minhwan, he said, “It was their private life, but things turned out like this. What’s wrong should be admitted and apologized for, but we shouldn’t believe everything too easily. I have to endure.” And added in a response to another fan, “If it wasn’t prostitution, and not even that kind of establishment, can you take responsibility for your words?”
What do you think of Hongki’s response?
