LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura Breaks Down Admitting Fear Of Singing, Questions Why She Chose To Be An Idol

The members of LE SSERAFIM shared their struggles, shedding tears as they reflected on tough moments in their recent documentary, and Sakura talked about her singing abilities

On the 29th of July, HYBE’s official YouTube channel released the documentary “Make It Look Easy” in five episodes, showcasing the group’s journey from the end of 2022 to the preparation for their mini-album “EASY” released in 2024. The documentary highlights LE SSERAFIM’s determination to overcome their limitations with passion. Sakura, in particular, admitted to her shortcomings, saying, “I hope I can feel that choosing this path was the right decision,” while comforting herself through tears.

Additionally, in the third episode, Sakura was seen leaving the stage during the comeback show held at a movie theater due to feeling unwell. She took a break with the help of staff members. Reflecting on the incident, Sakura said, “I was disappointed in myself for not being able to perform well during the comeback show with the fans in the movie theater. I realized I need to work even harder. I felt very upset and sorry. It was difficult to have to smile in front of the fans when I actually wanted to cry.”

During vocal practice, Sakura suddenly burst into tears. When the vocal trainer asked, “Why have you lost so much confidence? Is it not going as you want?” Sakura tearfully confessed, “I’m scared of singing in front of people. I want to enjoy singing, but I’m afraid.”

Sakura reflected, “I don’t know why I chose to be an idol. Did I really have to? Fans might be disappointed, but sometimes I wonder if this was the best job for me. There are times when I think maybe others who are better could have done it instead of me.” She continued, “Being an idol is the job where I find the most fun and happiness, but maybe it’s not about giving up or doubting because I’m not good enough. I question why I’m doing this if it’s making me cry and struggle so much.”

She added, “My goal these days is to enjoy each day. Those who support me probably appreciate seeing me work hard even when I’m struggling. Initially, there might have been different reasons, but I believe long-time supporters are watching to see how I cope and endure hardships.”
