Singer Kim Ho Joong, who is under suspicion of reckless driving, has admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol.

On May 19th, Kim Ho Joong admitted this through his agency in an official statement.

Kim Ho Joong was involved in an accident on a road in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 9th of this month, where he collided with a taxi on the opposite side of the road and fled the scene. He is currently facing charges of hit-and-run under the Road Traffic Act.

The singer had initially claimed it was not him driving and his CEO took the blame. Then, when caught lying to police and the public, he started getting investigated. But despite that, he continued to deny he drank alcohol when driving to the dismay of his fans and netizens even after several media outlets obtained footage of him leaving places people frequent to drink.

Ultimately, after 5 days of denying he was drunk, he finally admitted to it. Read the agency statement:

We sincerely apologize for the social turmoil caused by our artist Kim Ho Joong’s controversy and our erroneous judgment. We have been hasty in hiding the situation from the beginning, and we also sincerely apologize for not acting truthfully.
Kim Ho Joong voluntarily attended the police station, admitting to the facts of driving under the influence of alcohol. We deeply regret our mistaken belief that we should protect our artist, which led to irreversible wrongdoing. We apologize once again.
