Singer Kang Daniel has won a lawsuit against the YouTuber Sojang and is preparing for another one.

On the 11th of September, Kang Daniel’s side stated, “Our artist and the law firm Liu initially filed a criminal complaint in July 2022 against Sojang, who spread baseless false information and malicious rumors, causing severe defamation. Today (11th), we won the first trial.”

They continued, “We first filed a complaint at the Seocho Police Station in Korea, but the investigation was suspended as the identity of the perpetrator was not confirmed. After the identity was confirmed, we requested the resumption of the investigation in July 2023, and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office summarily indicted them with a fine of 3 million won. However, we strongly requested a formal trial, bringing Sojang to court, and finally, they revealed themselves. The court took the matter seriously enough to impose a fine of 10 million won, more than three times the prosecutor’s initial charge.”

Kang Daniel’s side added, “Regardless of whether the shameless defendant appeals, we will file a civil lawsuit seeking 100 million won [$74,672] separately from the criminal proceedings. This is a minimum defense measure to prevent further innocent victims from emerging and to prevent such incidents from recurring. We believe that malicious defamation and profiting from it must be met with strong civil and criminal liability, as these actions leave wounds that cannot be easily healed even after all legal proceedings are concluded.”

Sojang is also being sued by many other idols including BTS V and Jungkook.
