The team behind “Newsroom” has stated that they are currently verifying details regarding the controversy over a misreported CCTV video involving BTS member Suga.

On August 7th, JTBC’s “Newsroom” aired a report claiming that Suga had been caught on CCTV driving a personal mobility device while under the influence of alcohol. The footage showed someone resembling Suga riding a scooter on a road in Yongsan District, Seoul.

However, it was later revealed that the person in the video was not Suga and that the individual had been driving in a different direction from where Suga was actually headed, raising concerns over the accuracy of the report.

Following the backlash, JTBC removed or made private all videos of the report from their official channels, including YouTube. The controversial CCTV footage was also replaced with other stock images on the “Newsroom” website.

Despite the removal of the video, fans have continued to express strong dissatisfaction, demanding an apology from “Newsroom” for incorrectly reporting that the footage featured Suga. In response, JTBC told OSEN that they are “in the process of confirming” the related details.

Separately, it was reported that on the night of August 6th, Suga had fallen while driving a personal mobility device under the influence of alcohol, resulting in his license being revoked for having a blood alcohol concentration of over 0.08%. Suga later issued a public apology, expressing deep regret and taking full responsibility for his actions.
