Jessica Jung‘s fashion brand, Blanc & Eclare, has faced compulsory eviction process due to unpaid rent, and the Blanc team has released a statement and announced their plans to sue the owner of the building.

Blanc & Eclare which operates a clothing business and a restaurant on the first and second floors of a building in Seoul, stated on the 25th, “During the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we explained our situation to the landlord, seeking permission to delay the restaurant’s rent temporarily. However, we were refused and received a notice stating, ‘If the rent is delayed for three months, vacate the premises.'”

Furthermore, they claimed, “We reached an agreement with the contents and requested the use of the elevator after 10 p.m., following the government guidelines allowing operations after 10 p.m. However, the landlord, instead of resolving the elevator issue, completely stopped the elevator operation after 10 p.m. and even closed the main entrance. In order to access the second-floor business area, which became inaccessible, we had to guide customers through the clothing store on the first floor, which closed its doors after 8 p.m. Due to this arrangement, we experienced severe operational difficulties for over six months, with numerous customer complaints and inconveniences. Eventually, we had no choice but to decide to suspend operations and terminate the lease in early April.”

They further revealed, “On the other hand, the landlord continuously delayed the response, claiming to review the matter for over three months. Ignoring our requests and waiting for a response, suddenly, after three months had passed, they abruptly announced the enforcement of compulsory evacuation, interfered with our ongoing operations by making a surprise visit to the store, and ultimately demolished the store. As a result, we are currently considering and preparing for legal action.”

On the 24th, court officials from the Seoul Central District Court carried out the eviction process against Blanc. Recently, Blanc engaged in a dispute with the landlord of the building where they established their clothing and restaurant businesses on the first and second floors. The landlord, deeming that Blanc had not fulfilled the contract, requested the court for compulsory eviction. It appears that the court’s order has been carried out.
