ITZY has made history!

On July 24 local time, Billboard officially announced that ITZY’s new mini album “CHECKMATE” had debuted at No. 8 on the Top 200 Albums chart, the chart that ranks the most popular albums in the U.S.

ITZY has become the fourth kpop girl group to achieve this following BLACKPINK, TWICE, and aespa. Added to that, “CHECKMATE” is also only the fifth K-pop girl group album ever to make the top

According to Luminate (formerly MRC Data), “CHECKMATE” earned a total of 33,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on July 21. The album’s total score consisted of 31,000 traditional album sales and 2,000 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units—which translates to 2.96 million on-demand audio streams over the course of the week.
