It’s been reported that BTS will not be performing live for the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

On August 5, MTV VMAs revealed that BTS will perform their upcoming English-language track “Dynamite” for the first time on their stage. Fans were super excited about the announcement and are patiently waiting for August 30 to come. BTS has been nominated for three categories: Best Pop, Best K-pop, and Best Choreography. Fans wanted to see them take home many awards.

However, on August 17, Newsen reported that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, BTS will not attend the ceremony in Los Angeles, as a result, they will perform their song through a pre-recorded video; the recording will reportedly take place today on August 17 in full secrecy.

In response to the report, Big Hit Entertainment stated that it’s difficult for them to confirm anything aside from the official activities. They didn’t confirm nor deny the report.

“Dynamite” is scheduled to drop on August 21 at 1 p.m. KST. Meanwhile VMAs will be held at 8 p.m. on August 30 ET/PT.
