Industry Insiders Allege (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon Is Showing Interest In Joining This HYBE Subsidiary
Will Jeon Soyeon team up with HYBE?
With the contract renewal of Jeon Soyeon, leader of the group (G)I-DLE, officially set for November, there is significant interest in her future moves. If Soyeon does not renew her contract with Cube Entertainment, (G)I-DLE may temporarily operate as a four-member group, according to Korean media outlet reports.
According to music industry insiders, Jeon Soyeon is considering various companies, including KOZ Entertainment, led by Zico. The end of her contract in November was revealed when she sang a modified lyric during (G)I-DLE’s solo stage at their third world tour at Seoul’s KSPO Dome on the 3rd, stating, “November contract ends, who can stop me.”
Despite some controversy, the fact that Soyeon’s contract ends in November, unlike the other (G)I-DLE members, was already known within the music industry earlier this year. The industry’s attention is keen on whether (G)I-DLE will continue their activities as a full group, shift to a four-member formation, or if Soyeon will engage in individual activities with a different company while still participating in (G)I-DLE activities with Cube.
Rumors have circulated that Soyeon has been in discussions with other companies, including KOZ Entertainment. Soyeon and Zico have previously showcased their chemistry on KBS2’s “The Seasons – Zico’s Artist.” Reports suggest that KOZ is assembling a new team, fueling speculation that it might include Soyeon. Additionally, the team Soyeon worked with at Cube is reportedly collaborating with KOZ, adding to the speculation.
Big Planet Made Entertainment, known for aggressively signing artists recently, has also shown interest in Soyeon.
However, due to potential tampering issues (engaging with other companies before the contract ends), it is believed that Soyeon has not made any premature moves before concluding her world tour. Companies mentioned, including KOZ, have been cautious, stating, “Artists may have met personally, but there have been no pre-contractual meetings.”
Cube Entertainment confirmed on the 6th via official SNS, “The mentioned time is the contract termination point, and we are discussing the renewal amicably.” This was in response to the controversy following the concert.
Initially, a Cube representative explained to reporters that the performance was simply a part of the show and that all (G)I-DLE members’ contracts were set to end next year. Following multiple reports, Soyeon clarified on SNS that the performance was pre-discussed with the company, and Cube apologized for the confusion and confirmed the contract end date while stating that they are in renewal discussions.
(G)I-DLE, who debuted in May 2018, are now in their 7th year. They have proven their popularity with hits like “Nxde,” “Queencard,” “Super Lady,” “Tomboy,” and more. As Soyeon has been the group’s leader and producer, her decision is drawing much attention from fans and industry insiders.
What label do you think Soyeon should join next?
