One Of The Biggest Korean Celebrity Couples Announce Divorce Via Live Broadcast
One of the biggest and most public Korean celebrity couples have called it quits!
Broadcaster Ham So Won confessed that she had divorced her husband, Jin Hua.
On the 16th of August, Ham So Won revealed the news of her divorce with Jin Hua during a live broadcast on SNS. However, she left the door open for reconciliation by stating, “If my daughter wants it, I am considering (reconciliation).”
Ham So Won began by saying, “I always thought I was the head of this family because I am older. I felt that all responsibility fell on me, and I struggled a lot with how to tell you this.”
She continued, “I can’t share everything here, but I will be visiting Korea before Chuseok in September. I plan to meet with reporters and share the detailed story. I apologize for the delay in sharing this with you. Regarding what happened last week, there are parts that I can’t discuss alone, so I ask for your understanding and hope you will take it kindly.”
Ham So Won admitted, “Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel. 99% of my decision was for Hye-jung (her daughter). I grew up in a household with a lot of conflicts, so I wanted to live in a quiet and peaceful home. However, both Jin Hua and I are people who need to confirm love, which led to frequent fights. I feel very sorry to both Hye-jung and everyone else, so I made the decision then.”
She added, “Even now, I ask Hye-jung for her permission, asking her, ‘Is everything okay?’ I wanted to wait until Hye-jung could fully accept everything, watching with Jin Hua. If Hye-jung wants it, I am open to the idea of reconciliation. We can’t say that we have completely separated yet.”
Ham So Won also confessed, “The first goal was to not show Hye-jung her parents fighting. Since the divorce, the fights have certainly decreased.”
She explained, “There are no arguments at home now, only minor disputes at the office. Although Jin Hua and I are legally divorced, a long time has passed, and I can’t say for certain what will happen in the future. I’m not sure if the paperwork will be reversed. We’re monitoring the situation with Hye-jung and other factors.”
Additionally, Ham So Won stated, “Jin Hua may not like this kind of conversation coming out. He did write the apology note himself. People say, ‘It seems too hard to live as a celebrity,’ but I already have a child, and I’m already a celebrity. I’ve decided to focus on the positives of being a celebrity.”
She concluded, “Living like this is better for both me and Hye-jung. From now on, I plan to teach Hye-jung how to behave, speak, and handle herself as a child with a celebrity mother, without labeling it as bad. As a mother, I want to think only about what will make Hye-jung brighter, more confident, and able to move forward.”
Finally, Ham So Won said, “For now, I’m just focused on ensuring Hye-jung grows up bright and worry-free. I will stay alert and meet you all again in a live broadcast at night.”
