The revelations about the reality of the Korean entertainment industry continue, and this time it involves former member of GWSN’s Miya.

Recently, Miya, a former member of GWSN, opened up about the difficulties she experienced during her idol activities in Korea in an interview with Asahi Shimbun.

GWSN shared, “I recently had a conversation with other members of GWS, and we talked about how ‘we were in prison. We would start practicing right after returning from school, and by the time we finished, it would be completely dark outside. Honestly, this is nothing special.”

She further revealed that every time they went to practice, their weight would be measured in front of the manager, and they had to report their meals. Their cell phones were also confiscated, making it difficult for them to communicate with their families, drawing attention to the situation, “It was a very difficult time. I tried to prepare something so that I could return to activities at any time, but I ended up spending a lot of time at the dormitory, and in the end, everyone returned home.”

She also admitted that she was forced to stay illegally due to the circumstances. In April of last year, she signed an exclusive contract with a Japanese agency and made a new start. She mentioned her plans, saying, “Among the fans who have supported GWSN for a long time, some may feel disappointed that I am starting anew, but someone had to take the next step. In the future, I would like to pursue modeling or acting or maybe participate in auditions.”

Miya debuted as a member of GWSN in 2018. After their last album in 2021, they entered a hiatus. Since February 2022, the agency has not paid the rent, leading to all the members being evicted from the dormitory, essentially leading to the group’s disbandment.
