Grandpa Uaena Shares The Heartwarming Story Of Meeting IU At Her Concert
Top singer and actress IU has kept her promise to an American fan, Zeb Latete (76) also known as “grandpa Uaena”.
Grandpa Uaena attended IU’s “2024 IU HEREH World Tour Concert in America” with his wife on June 30th at the Oakland Arena in California.
Grandpa Uaena, who lives in California, has been operating a YouTube channel introducing IU’s music and Korean dramas, drawing attention from Hallyu fans. He became known as “Grandpa Uaena” after joining IU’s fan club with the help of other fans.
grandpa Uaena faced a difficult time around 2018, losing his father and daughter and retiring from his job. Korean dramas and IU’s music helped him get through these tough times, particularly her dramas “Hotel Del Luna” and “You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin.”
In May, he was one of 49 people selected from a competitive pool of 3,200 to be invited by the Korean government to a “Korea Invite You” event for global fans of Korean content.
After IU’s concert, grandpa Uaena revealed he had a 10-minute conversation with her. IU had prepared gifts for him, including a bow tie made from hanbok fabric, a norigae, a keyring, a signed album, and a handwritten letter. She also prepared a gift for his wife.
Through his YouTube channel, grandpa Uaena expressed his admiration for IU, saying, “She was very beautiful, incredibly kind, and very thoughtful.” He also showed a photo taken with IU and his wife.
Currently, IU is on her North American tour, having completed five out of six scheduled cities, with only the Los Angeles tour left on August 2nd.
Fans are extremely happy for the grandpa Uaena who finally got the chance to meet IU after being such a huge fan of hers.
