Recently, several posts have appeared on online communities raising issues with the outfits worn by (G)I-DLE during their performance of their new song “Klaxon” on KBS’s “Music Bank” on the 19th. At that time, the members wore lifeguard outfits with the Red Cross emblem, raising suspicions of unauthorized use of the emblem.
The group’s agency, Cube Entertainment, stated on the 22nd of July to Maeil Business Star Today that they are “currently confirming the situation with the relevant internal departments” in relation to the (G)I-DLE stage outfit controversy.
According to Article 25 of the Korean Red Cross Act (Prohibition of the Use of the Red Cross Emblem, etc.), the use of the Red Cross emblem without the approval of the Red Cross is prohibited. Violation of this regulation can result in a fine of up to 10 million won or a penalty of up to 5 million won.
The Korean Red Cross later clarified that “Cube Entertainment did not request approval for the use of the emblem,” which further escalated the controversy.
