Former PRISTIN member remarks about her group debut broke fans’ hearts.
PRISTIN was considered one of the most promising rising girl groups. However, the girls suddenly went off the radar and not too long ago, the agency announced their disbandment in May of 2019, the agency stated,
“After having long in-depth discussions with the members for a long time, we came to a mutual agreement. It has been decided that with the exclusion of Kyulkyung, Yehana, Sungyeon, the seven remaining members (Nayoung, Roa, Yuha, Eunwoo, Rena, Xiyeon, and Kyla) terminated their exclusive contracts as of May 24, 2019.
We would like to apologize to fans first who have always showed support for the group and for delivering the unfortunate news.
We have had a long time to carefully think the matter through and we decided to respect the wishes of the members and came to the conclusion of the disbandment and the contract termination.”
However, former PRISTIN member Yaebin (was known as Rena in PRISTIN) has a different story to tell.
Recently four members of PRISTIN rebranded and re-debuted in a group called HINAPIA, they added a fifth member. The girls held their debut showcase and the members answered all kinds of questions including ones about PRISTIN disbandment.
Minkyeung (who was known as Roa in PRISTIN) said,
“After PRISTIN disbanded my heart ached, but I was fortunate enough to be with my fellow members who shared a common goal.”
Member Yaebin said that the group was unaware of their disbandment and had been working on their next album,
“Without knowing about the disbandment of PRISTIN in advance, we had been preparing for our next album. We (HINAPIA members) gathered in earnest July in preparation to debut. I am still in good contact with the other members of the group.”
What the former members said contradicts Pledis said; fans continue to express their disappointment with the entire way the group was handled.
