Former BTOB Member Jung Ilhoon has received a prison sentence!

On June 10, Jung Il Hoon’s sentencing hearing was held at the Seoul Central District Court. He was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 133 million won (approximately $119,200) for violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics, Etc.

He was also immediately taken under custody as the court believed there was a possibility he might flee.

The prosecution previously demanded four years in prison for his crimes along with a fine.

The court stated that the defendants communicated via the dark web so their crimes couldn’t be easily detected and used ‘elaborate criminal methods’ such as making purchases with cryptocurrency bitcoin to avoid leaving a trace.

Jung Il Hoon and another defendant Park were deemed to have played a leading role in the criminal acts and have done it the highest number of times, according to the court statement.

Jung Il Hoon had previously been charged on the suspicion of purchasing and smoking 826 grams (approximately 1.8 pounds) of marijuana using approximately 130 million won (approximately $116,500) across 161 instances between July 5, 2016, and January 9, 2019, together with seven other people.

When the news was revealed in late 2020 fans were shocked, due to his controversy, he’s left BTOB in December of 2020. He had been serving as a public service worker since May 2020.
