A memorial space to commemorate the late ASTRO member Moonbin will be established at Gukcheongsa Temple.
On the 4th of June, ASTRO’s agency Fantagio released a statement announcing the news.
The following is the full announcement from Fantagio regarding the memorial space for the late Moonbin.
First of all, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Arohas [ASTRO’s fandom name] who have visited Sky Park until the 49th day since the passing of the late Moonbin, reminiscing about his brightest moments and sharing their sorrow.
We fully empathize with the regretful hearts of Arohas who wish to cherish Moonbin for a longer time. Therefore, after extensive and careful discussions with the family, our company has prepared an external memorial space to allow Arohas, who have always shown abundant love, to send warm greetings to Moonbin a little longer.
Although Moonbin did not practice Buddhism as his religion, as requested by the family, we have prepared a “Moon Space” at a specific location within Namhansanseong Provincial Office. It is planned to be operated long-term starting from 5:30 AM on June 7, 2023. We understand that the path to the provincial office is uphill and narrow, which may cause inconvenience. However, we sincerely hope that it becomes a space where Arohas can visit anytime, find solace for their hearts, and receive comfort.
- Operating Hours: The provincial office operates from 5:30 AM to 6:30 PM. However, we kindly ask that you visit no later than 5:30 PM and exit by 6:30 PM. Please note that the parking lot within the provincial office closes its entrance barrier at 6 PM, so if you are using a personal vehicle, please arrive no later than 5:30 PM.
- Directions Address of Namhansanseong: Provincial Office: 105, Namhansanseong-ro 780beon-gil, Namhansanseong-myeon, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. Since the provincial office is located within the mountains of Namhansanseong, there may be difficulties in transportation and mobility. We ask for your understanding. Also, please be aware that the path to the provincial office requires a steep hike, so we recommend bringing water in advance. For foreign visitors, using a taxi may cause inconvenience, so we kindly request refraining from using taxis.
- Avoidance of Offering: We would be grateful if you could refrain from bringing food and offering other than letters and notes. We fully understand that it is a heartfelt gesture for Moonbin, but since the temple is located in the mountains, it is challenging to maintain the integrity of offerings due to insects and foreign substances. We plan to install boards for attaching notes in one part of the Moon Space, and we will periodically collect and preserve them all with great care. For letters, we kindly ask you to place them in the letterbox provided in the Moon Space.
